SIN! It is a bigger issue than we think. Many around us take little notice of sin. I am not a sinner. I only commit little sins. My sins do not hurt anyone. How sure are we of that? 

Achan, one of the main characters in these verses today, took a little silver thinking no one will notice. But God noticed. It was a crazy action on his part thinking that he could steal from God. It was a bad move on his part. 

However, sin is sin, no matter how large or small it happens to be. And as we read these verses we see that sin brings with it consequences. For Achan, his sin brought with it death. And all because he stole what rightfully belonged to God. If Achan had waited a few more days he could have had it all. But his impatience was his undoing. 

Achan forfeited his life. His sin brought death to his family. 36 soldiers lost lives. Sin comes with consequences. Adam’s sin saw them kicked out of the garden. David’s sin brought about murder. Our sin brought about the death of Jesus on the Cross. SIN comes with consequences.
