Do we have too much stuff? Some would say we do? Others would say we don’t? others might say, you never know when you might need it. About a year before we moved from Inverell to Werribee, there was a fire bug going around the town setting cars on fire. We lost both our cars to the fire bug. It did however force us to grapple with whether we had too much stuff.

In the verses we look at this morning, Jesus is instructing His would be followers as to what stuff they need to follow Him. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

What are you planning on taking with you to heaven? Will what you take with you last eternally? You may be in need of stuff here on earth. But how much of your stuff will go with you. Would be followers were challenged as to who or what their heart was following? “For where your treasure is where your heart will be also.
