Would you like to know what the future holds for you? Without thinking too much about it, many would say they would want to know the future. Yet, when we think about it, would we? If we are going gto have a painful death, would we? If our life is going to be cut short would we want to know?
While we might not want to know the pain we might endure or that we would lose our livelihood, knowing the future would help us prepare for what is to come. We would make sure our affairs are in order if we knew when? We could also prepare for the future of what lies on the other side of death’s door – an eternity to come. And the decisions and choices we make now will determine where that eternity is spent.
God has already forewarned us as to where that eternity will be spent. If we reject the Son of God and what He has done for us on the cross then eternity in hell awaits. If we accept what God has done for us through His Son, Jesus Christ then the future is eternity in heaven.
As followers of Christ we know the future. God in His grace has forewarned us. It is comforting to know the future, and to know that our lives are safe in the firm hands of God. Whatever might be thrown at us, we know that God has all those events in the palm of His hand, safely under His control. Give thanks that God has the future safely in His grip.
